I attended the 12th Annual Waikiki SPAM Jam for the first time.  All I knew to expect was a lot of SPAM.  It was exciting to see that there were 20 restaurants and several food trucks participating in this year’s event and celebrating something that is an essential element of living in Hawaii, SPAM. It was a revelation to see what creative and spam-tastic dishes they were serving.  There were over 60 SPAM inspired dishes served.  Definitely something for everyone to indulge in.

The SPAM Jam started around 4pm and Kalakaua Ave. was already filling with people at 3:30pm.  There was this great energy with people dressed in their SPAM gear.

The SPAM Jam is not only a really fun event that brings the local community and the visitors together, but it is also provides an opportunity to raise money and collect food for the Hawaii Foodbank.  The number one item that is requested from the Foodbank is SPAM in Hawaii, which made the celebration even more special.

The biggest draw seemed to be the SPAM Dog, who made an appearance in a purple SPAM Can hat this year!  Most photographed dog, ever.

My favorite burger place is the Mahaloha Burger and they did their awesome Loco Moco and in honor of SPAM Jam they added Spam.  I went for one of those! They take the classic elements of a loco moco - hamburger patty, over easy egg and gravy - and put it between two buns! Delicious!

The famous food truck, Aloha Plate, joined this year’s SPAM Jam.  You might recognize brothers Lanai and Adam (winners) from the Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race.  They served up their award winning SPAM Burger.

I got a chance to meet Sir Can-A-Lot!  You will never guess what he said to me when I put my arm around him, “I definitely want to take a picture with you!”  Well, I mean…who wouldn't.

I really enjoyed my first Spam Jam and will definitely be there for next year’s festivities on May 2, 2015.

Best,

It is really funny, but I first though that this blog was about "space jam" and not "SPAM jam". Well, I was doing an image search of spam jam characters before arriving here. Since I cannot really share much on your topic, I would just share what I know about mine. First, Space Jam is a film that focuses on the great Michael Jordan. It is a semi-animated film that also features characters such as Bugs Bunny and other Disney characters.
